for Long Term Weight Loss!

How to increase Metabolism! Understand what metabolism is and
how it can help you to reach your weight loss goals.

Looking for ways to cut down on your body fat?

One of the better ways is to increase metabolism!

And what exactly does metabolism mean?

Metabolism is the ability of your body to convert food into calories (energy) and burn those calories.

If your metabolism is slower, you use less energy and as a result excess fat is stored in your body. If you increase your metabolism, the calories will be burnt faster and your body will store less fat.

So obviously you need to know how to increase your metabolism to stay in shape.

Lifestyle Slows Metabolism Over Time

Over time, our lifestyle has become more sedentary. We all are many times less active than what our ancestors used to be, which has led to very low metabolism.

Some of the obvious negatives in our current Lifestyle:

  • Most of our jobs involve sitting in front of the computer for 8 hours

  • We take the car / bus for even very short distances

  • We spend our free time in front of the television

  • Our goods contain high levels of sugar and is over processed

  • All these things are responsible for an increase in our body fat and the only way to battle it is to increase your metabolism.

    How to Increase Your Metabolism?

The two factors that directly affect your metabolism are Lean Muscle Mass and Physical Activity!

The more lean you muscle is, the more amounts of calories you body is able to burn at rest (Resting Metabolic Rate).

The more physically active you are as a person, the higher is your metabolism compared to a person who does not participate in any physical activities.

So to increase you metabolism you need to:

  • Increase your Lean Muscle Mass
  • Increase Your Physical Activity

  • So start getting involved in sports, start going for walks, join a gym, or do anything that gets you up and gets you active.

The best thing is to make exercising a habit!

    How does Diet affect Metabolism?

When you are on a diet and eat less, you body slowly decreases its metabolism to match you calorie intake.

If you are dieting, it is better to alter the number of calories you intake from week to week; often called as calorie cycling. This helps to increase your metabolism after a couple of weeks of dieting.

In general, it is better to take small & frequent meals to increase metabolism naturally.

    Summary

Metabolism plays an important part in deciding how much fat is stored in your body. Our sedentary lifestyle is mostly responsible for slowing down our Metabolism. The only way to fight weight gain in the long term is by regular exercise and a healthy diet, which should help in increasing your metabolism.
